Dimbooladress_webDimboola Memorial Secondary College is a-buzz with plans for a vintage fashion show during Enviroweek.

The event is the pinnacle for an Enviroweek -themed, ‘All things recycled’ for the 180- student college in country Victoria. VCAL girls are the leading the charge for the fashion show, scouring opp-shops and clearing out wardrobes and swapping in the search for clothes and accessories with the elusive ‘X’ factor.
“Items will be worn as they are, combined and recreated completely new. There will be the wearable, and the wearable art!’ explained Science coordinator and VCAL Teacher, Megan Vercoe. Students from all year levels will be recruited to models the creations and to help produce the show.

Meanwhile, VCAL boys will be experiencing that recycling pays for the hip pocket by collecting excess cans, glassware and old books to turn into cash. This is the second Enviroweek for Dimboola and Megan. “Last year was on a much smaller scale. This year, lead by the VCAL students, the whole school will be getting involved.

“It’s the end of the term and time of year when we all need a boost. Enviroweek is sure to shine some light, raising spirits and awareness that buying nothing new leads to creativity, individuality and it’s a whole lot of fun.”
