Bunbury Catholic College
Yr 8 Sustainability
Our Story So Far…
Survey of the biodiversity of the school grounds and reviewing and maintaining the vegetable & herb garden and tagging the fruit orchard.
The College is presently undergoing renovations and large capital projects. This is an opportunity for us to review the school landscaping and implement a gardening plan that was finalised in 2013. The new garden plan reflects the six Noongar seasons and uses only native West Australian plants. As part of Enviroweek the Yr 8 classes are using this plan to identify priority areas in the school that need to be re-landscaped and are developing their designs in groups. Water wise, native plants, reducing fossil fuel use in the school, minimising waste and composting are all features of their designs. We are also going to tag our 2 yr old orchard and continue maintaining the school vegetable garden.
