Our Story So Far…
As a class, we will bring in recycled pots, plastic bottles and foam boxes to create a wild class herb and veggie garden.
It all started in class one morning, when things started to get extremely off-topic (as they sometimes do). One student began trying to fix a door, another mentioned CRC and before you know it we were discussing the benefits of organic coconut oil! After winding through conversations around the irony of coal seam gas protesters plastering plastic stickers on their fuel guzzling cars, and the antibacterial properties of tea tree oil, our conversation soon turned to veggie patches. Why not use our morning 'warm up' sessions to reduse, reuse, recycle and GROW some delicious and nutritious herbs and veggies? The ideas buzzed through the room, and we were soon signing up to the Cool Australia Enviroweek Wild Child Challenge. We plan to bring in a heap of recycled pots and boxes, some seeds and seedlings, and spend our mornings in the sunshine and fresh air, saving some electricity by hitting the lights in the classroom, and growing some delicious organic produce.
