OUR ACTION

We have been learning about reducing landfill. We now have a worm farm and compost bins and we are setting up composting in the school. We have partnered with our local shop and asked for compost and coffee grinds. We wrote a letter to the shop mentioning our concerns about landfill and asked if we could use some food waste for our compost.

OUR ACTION

We participated in National Tree planting day on Monday the 31st of July. We planted 25 native plants to attrract more bees and native birds to our school.

OUR ACTION

We are reducing our environmental footprint by making sure that we turn off lights and fans when we leave the room. When it is a sunny day we try to turn off our lights and open the curtains and use the natural light. We are also making sure that we turn off our Interactive Whiteboard when we leave at break times.

OUR ACTION

We have created an outdoor learning area with upcycled tree logs. We have also used left over wool to create God's eyes for our area.

OUR IMPACT

We sorted our separated our waste. More than 20 per cent of our waste was food that could have been eaten or composted. That’s the same as throwing out one in every five bags of groceries.
