Our Story So Far…

Children/families will endeavour to make changes by participating in various challenges. This builds upon the education around sustainability that we've worked on this year.

This week we have workers at out local council visiting to learn more about the worms in our worm farm. We will have our rest outdoors during the week and listen to the sounds in our Environment. We are going to make recycled creatures from items that would have been placed into the recycling bin and make hanging baskets out of milk cartons and plant flower seeds. We encourage items from home for our useful box that children can construct with as well as collecting an array of items that have a recycling symbol on them. We will explore solar energy as a natural source of energy by looking at the solar fountain, solar lights and solar torches. The children water and mulch a vegetable garden and herb garden at Kindy as well as a flower garden. We empty our food scraps into the compost bin and worm farm and when our chickens get bigger we will be able to give them some scraps. We are aiming to set up a trading table where families can bring in items to swap with other families. All items not swapped will go to a local charity.
