Seaforth Multicare Child Care Centre
We will be growing and eating our own food.
We are collecting a range of paper, plastic and glass jars and using them for craft, problem solving and role play experiences throughout the centre. One of the main projects we have done with the recyclables is to create some wall murals. Each of the rooms worked together and used only recycled materials to create their own sustainable scene.
All of the children have been very excited to watch the growth of their vegetable garden. During National Tree day some of the older children took the opportunity to plant some more vegetables and even begin to grow some fresh and healthy pizza toppings in their room. Our main focus for Enviroweek is to continue to grow a range of fruits and vegetables and then create delicious products with them.
Throughout the centre we are making a conscious effort to turn off all the lights when the children are playing outside. The children are in charge of remembering to tell their educators to turn off the lights to embed this practice into the centre's daily routine.
Eating locally grown food or food from our garden is good for us and the environment. It’s fresh, ripe and doesn’t need to travel.
