C and K Mudgeeraba Community Kindergarten
Our Story So Far…
We are creating a special garden for outdoor learning and quiet time.
Sustainable practice is embedded in all we do at C and K Mudgeeraba. We are supported by our families and our community, but it is the children who embrace the idea of sustainability ensuring its success in the decades to come. Our four classes have chosen to highlight one practice each to show how we all contribute to 'Wiping out Waste' 1.Litterless lunches. With support from families we aim to reduce our reliance on packaged and processed foods by maximising our use of reusable lunch boxes and drink bottles. 2. Worm Farming. We reduce waste by adding all suitable leftover foodstuffs and suitable materials to our worm farms. 3.Composting. Foods unsuitable for the worm farm along with garden waste and compostable materials from the classrooms are added to our compost system - again to reduce waste. 4. Reusing and repurposing. Our clever children repurpose many items in their design and collage work. We make useful, beautiful and clever things from unwanted materials. We will spend lots of time outside tending to our gardens - native, veggie and flower and we will talk about ways we can Wipe out Waste!
