We are going to move and groove in nature.
Reduce, Recycle and Reuse are the words of 2016 as Environmental Leaders are teaching students and staff about recycling in the local community. A program involving students in the recycling of paper and hard plastic has been implemented this year, something that few residents in the local area take seriously.
Planting gardens to attract native birds and to provide shade and quiet spaces for students to use when reading or relaxing at lunch is a priority. Healthy green spaces will make the college more comfortable and welcoming for all students and visitors. On July 28, there will be a clean-up of the college in preparation for tree planting on July 29. All students from the Years 7 to 9 campuses will be involved in cleaning across the school. A team working as Environmental Leaders in 2016 will be responsible for the planting of new garden beds.
The Reduce, Recycle and Reuse motto is being used in a variety of ways, now reminding all staff and students about turning off heaters / air conditioners, lights and taps when they are not in use. Reminders are in classrooms and notices are included in the daily bulletins.
Recycling runners, batteries and mobile phones reduces the impact of mining and landfill on the environment.
