Wicking garden beds
Our Story So Far…
Saving water by converting our veggie garden beds to wicking beds
Our school is an AuSSI school and we are actively involved with wastewise, waterwise, solarwise and the SAKGP. We have recycling locations throughout town where we collect aluminium cans which we crush and then sell to a scrap merchant. We have installed one rain water tank to collect water for use on our veggie garden, with plans to install a second tank before the end of August. Our veggie garden include three worm farms and a new chook house - under construction (we plan to have this finished over the next couple of weeks), we are currently incubating eggs to stock the chook house. We have a small orchard and will be planting a further five fruit trees this spring. As part of Planet Ark we will be planting some native trees on 'tree day'.
