Our Story So Far…
In area under the stairs to portable classooms there were bare patches of sandy soil. Succulents, mulch have been planted.
Our team is made up of younger students who attend during their lunchtimes. Participation is optional. Each lunchtime the students are involved with varying tasks depending on the need. Weeding the vegetable gardens, especially at this time of the year. Planting and propagating seedlings and cuttings. Raking the autumn leaves from the paved and concrete areas and putting them into the compost bins. The stair area was dry, dusting and unattractive. At a recent working bee parents put in sleepers to retain the soil and define the area. Our group added the plants and mulch. The plants were succulents that remained from our recent Mother's Day stall (that we propagated earlier in the year), The money from our fundraising has gone towards raised garden beds for extra vegetable gardens, an espalier for our 3 fruit trees (2 apples, and a nashi pear).
