Our Story So Far…

Lakemba Public School will hold a Nude food day and run an awareness campaign with the community to reduce landfill waste generated in our school.

It is only just recently Lakemba PS has taken an active role in environmental education across the school. The year 6 environment team have very quickly become enthusiastic about improving the environment at a school and community level. One of the main issues identified in our school is large amounts of rubbish going to landfill. To make a difference the environment team have begun the process of implementing a recycling system across the whole school. So far the environment team have devoted lots of lunch times and afternoons to creating posters and speeches to educate the students about recycling, why it's important and how we will go about it. They have even completed waste audits to detrmine the amount and types of recyclable materials in our school each week. The next phase of our project is to continue to educate and begin to encourage the students to seperate the recyclable materials. The enthusiasm of our year 6 environment team will ensure this project is a success.
