Our Story So Far…

The whole school is getting involved in a range of Enviroweek actions.

Increasing our childrens awareness of the world we live in and care for through sustainable practices and exploring our environment, will help to improve their health and well being, outdoor connections, as well as calming and re-energizing all those involved. Bush walks will encourage exploration, tree climbing and getting dirty, as will digging for worms, keeping scraps to feed them, collecting worm wee for the garden and composting. recycling and up-cycling will create an awareness of how much waste our community creates, and how to put it to better use. excursions and incursions are a fun way to experience something new and unfamiliar. environmental orientated craft is an excellent way for children to express what their understanding of our planet is, as are group discussions. indoor nature tubs can be a method of bringing the busy nature to them. clean up days, where they can roam the local pondage collecting litter. magnifying glasses and cameras are also a good way to discover what the children find interesting and what they find important to them in their natural environment. through the use of our centre mascot, "Envo the bear", we can also see what sustainable practices are used at home, as they take photos of their adventures and keep a diary. all staff and children get to take him home and show us what they do in caring for our home, our environment, our planet.
