Jack and Jill Kindergarten
Our Story So Far…
We will be taking on all the Enviroweek challenges, not just for Enviroweek but on an ongoing basis, to increase awareness within our kinder community.
Over the past few years we have increased our sustainability practices within our kinder. We had 3 large veggie gardens installed, planted apple trees, passionfruit vines, (which we share produce with families and use for the children's morning tea) and native plants indigenous to our local area. We compost our food scraps into a worm bin, use our recycling bin for any paper, cardboard scraps and encourage families to bring in any boxes, ribbons, lids, material etc for the children to use in their art and craft activities. All families are encouraged to bring in nude food lunches and a piece of fruit or vegetable for our shared morning snack. We always ensure our children spend part of each day within the outdoors and actively encourage, climbing our ti-trees, digging in our dirt patch, and using our recycled water pump to gather water. We know that we can always improve, be extra vigilant, and increase awareness amongst our families, hence us taking on all of the challenges.
