Gerringong Public School
We will reduce our waste and set up recycling systems.
Students have been participating in a waste control and recycling initiative this term. Many students have taken positive action toward lunches, changing to reusable containers. We have a series of bins so that students can place things in the correct bins for recycling. We have plastics, foil, chip packet (anything with foil on the inside), soft plastics, compost and paper collection bins. Students have been doing a fantastic job reducing the amount of waste they make and sorting it properly so that it doesn't end up as land fill. Students have been exploring upcycling. They have created some great things from garbage, including chess boards, doll houses and ornaments.
Our Eco-Warriors have been helping in our school garden, which includes and orchard and vegetable garden. Stage 1 have a new garden full of delicious vegetables and fruit for yummy snacks.
This term we are studying Physical Sciences in our Science class. We will be looking at ways of generating electricity and how we can save it.
We are recycling almost all of our school waste, saving about 30 tonnes of waste a year from going to landfill!
WE ARE CELEBRATING ENVIROWEEK
We are having a nude food morning tea with lots of delicious fresh food for the students to try.
