Our Story So Far…

We are creating a new outdoor environment for our nursery children and redeveloping our front garden to create a new wildlife and art display area. We will be using recycled and reused materials throughout our project and involving our children, families and local community.

It's finally Enviroweek! Our playground conversations now include discussions about clean energy, recycling, conserving water and protecting our planet. The children even talk about sustainable living. It's fantastic! Yesterday we had a limited electricity day in our centre with no lights, no music and only gas cooking. See our video report below with roving reporter Denzel. Today we went on an excursion to the local park and conducted an ecological survey and collected natural materials for our artwork later in the week. We used our Enviroweek binoculars to look at the pollution from our power station. On the walk home we counted the houses with solar panels. It has been a fantastic day. On Wednesday we had a backyard blitz day with new seedlings and seeds for our vegie patch and new fruit tree for the garden. Our worm farm is doing really well and our compost bin is ready to be filled. On Thursday we had an environmental performance in the centre. The children made all the props and performed very well. The local newspaper attended and took photos and wrote an article about our Enviro week activities. The Enviro week tshirts were a huge hit with the children. On Friday a Nude Food day which is going to be a challenge for our cook Colin. We have added lots of new photos of our other activities and achievements within our centre and have so many plans for the future. From little things, big things grow.
