Our Story So Far…

At Best Kidz our children tend for our beautiful gardens, recycle their own rubbish and take pride in using sustainable food wrapping.

At Best Kidz we strive to educate the children on sustainability at an early age. The children we care for are passionate about their learning and have adapted their preschool lifestyle to a more environmentally friendly centre. Our centre has a beautiful backyard with numerous plants, herbs and trees. The children show respect for our yard by taking initiative and ensuring we water the garden regularly and on the occasion using the concentrate from our worm farm. The children care for and tend to the garden showing great interest as the gardens are used in the children's cooking lessons as well as for home when the children wish so. Our children are also educated early on recycling. The children both study recycling in detail during structured learning times as well as implementing it on a day to day basis. While we do encourage the children to use reusable packaging we do provide 3 bins at the lunch table. The first one being rubbish, the second recycling and the third fruit and vegetable scraps. The children use both their knowledge gained and assistance from the teachers to dispose of their waste properly. On a rotating basis we take the children to the worm farm where they are able to dispose of the fruit scraps themselves. And finally. We work in partnerships with families requesting that we use nude food packaging and set up regular challenges to limit the waste we may produce in a day.
