Our Story So Far…

We will involve the whole kindergarten community in providing "litter free" lunches/have only worm farm waste. We plan to install a frog habitat garden.

Our kindergarten encourages fresh food with limited packaging and all lunch waste is sorted into three bins by the children - a yellow lid recycling bin, a green general waste bin and a black worm farm bin. During Enviroweek we will set ourselves the challenge of only using the black worm farm bin. We have now completed the installation of a frog pond and frog habitat garden ready for Enviroweek. We continue to grow our own fruit and vegetables and use these in cooking activities. Next week we will make bruschetta using our own tomatoes, basil, eggplant and capsicum. We also continue to care for our chickens and have been watching a pair of nesting curlews who are now raising their chick. We are careful not to disturb them and built signs and a fence to keep them safe.
