Our Story So Far…

We are going to engage our children, educators, families and the community in the 4 Rs activities - Rethink-Recycle- Reduce- Reuse during the Enviroweek!

We are having a topic about sustainability each day to raise children’s awareness of their actions on the environment as well as to make responsible decisions. Families are invited to come and engage in 'Waste Warrior Activities' turning trash into treasure. People from the community are coming to build a flower garden and a herb garden with children. Monday- With parents help, we built a music wall, made a twig decoration, a garden compost bin, used tissue boxes to make guitars. We also talked about the cause and effect of climate change. Tuesday- Parents came in to make an ice cream shop out of cardboard boxes and ice creams out of egg carton and old stuffed toys, some musical instruments out of recycled materials, a laundry machine and a dryer out of moving boxes with us! We also played a “Recycle Game” in which children learn to put the rubbish in the right bin. Wednesday- Kenny from the community came to plant different sorts of herbs with us. We also had parents came in to make igloo out of milk bottles and weaving frames out of old shoe wrecks. We made egg carton boats and played them in the rain water! Thursday- We made leaf collage, cameras out of recycled biscuit boxes. Friday- We had a parent came in to make a flower garden out of old tyres!
