Bexhill Primary School’s Green Day
“We held a “Green Day” during Enviroweek where all the students and staff wore green. As part of this day we held a ‘Litter Free Day’. The students made a conscious effort to reduce the waste in their lunch box which was a great success.
The day prior to our litter free day our lunch and recess waste weighed in at 1kg. On the litter free day it weighed 200grams. This waste did not include our food scraps as they go to our resident chooks and compost bin.
One class spent recess and lunch checking the rooms in the school to make sure they were being ‘environmentally friendly’ with their electricity use and two other classes spent part of their day weeding and watering our gardens and vegetable patch.
The students had a great day.”
